SEC - Springer Enterprise Concepts

The concepts department originates the ideas, theories, and standards for research to undertake and improvements to implement. An example is our completely inertia controlled action designed for Ravenscroft Pianos. We asked ourselves instead of having an action with either high, low, or arbitrary inertia, why not have an action where the level of inertia is controlled not only as a whole, but also controlled from note to note?

SERD - Springer Enterprise Research & Development

This department carries out the experiments that we draw from our concepts. As a way of progressing by standing on our own shoulders, we continually try to rethink what we have discovered. Much of our established practices are put through R&D again and again, causing a lifelike evolution. To avoid a common pitfall of this industry, we have always moved forward with the acceptance that we can be wrong about things. This keeps us from becoming so ingrained in an idea or way of doing something that it would keep us from improving.

SEAL - Springer Enterprise Acoustic Laboratories

This department is responsible for analysis of: sound production, hammer/string contact, quantifiable voicing techniques, and more. Our goal is to take much of the subjectiveness out of our practices.

SEAN - Springer Enterprise Assistant Numerator

SEAN is our proprietary software. It is constantly evolving to take on any task that can efficiently improve the end product without sacrificing quality. For example SEAN is used one day to research and design a new piano’s optimal action spread, another day to perform calculations that would be physically impossible for our inertia controlled action and another day to calculate our balanced action specs to the hundredth of a gram. Not only has SEAN opened the door for new possibilities but it has also allowed us to give our clients a higher quality action without increasing cost.
We have made available some of the smaller components of SEAN Mobile in our | Technicians | section for download and use on Windows Mobile® devices.

SED - Springer Enterprise Designs

This is our department for producing any visual materials for other companies and our own. This has included but is not limited to: concept piano designs, concept action design, website design, and product visualization.

SEP - Springer Enterprise Publications

This is our department for producing any written materials for other companies and our own. This has included but is not limited to: ads, manuals, presentations, manufacturing spec sheets, and research briefs.
